Soffe and Cheer Ltd. - Press Release

SOFFE AND CHEER LTD. ANNOUNCE

LAUNCH OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Soffe Open - logoFAYETTEVILLE–M.J. Soffe has purchased title sponsorship of the new Open Cheerleading and Dance Championship series designed and produced by Cheer Ltd. Inc.

The strong market potential of the launch of the Soffe Spirit Open Championship Series is driven by the fact there is no precedent for a non-production company titled event in the cheer industry at this level, according to Soffe officials.

M.J. Soffe is an apparel marketing company located in Fayetteville, N.C. where the company was founded in 1946. The company has been supplying practice apparel to cheerleaders and dance squads since 1982.

The Authentic Soffe Short has become synonymous with cheerleading and dance because of the fit, performance and versatility of the product. Soffe understands the team business and offers an array of colors to accommodate all teams.

“The opportunity to partner with a world class event company such as Cheer Ltd. Inc. gives us the vehicle for reaching out to our consumers, allowing us to better understand their needs in the cheer/dance market. We are especially excited to be able to make this happen in our own hometown,” says Jim Soffe.

Cheer Ltd. Inc., one of the top five cheerleading event producers in the world, was founded in 1988 by Gwen Pheagin Holtsclaw, then the coach of Cheerleading and Dance at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C.

Gwen Holtsclaw believes that modern cheerleading is athletic and that cheerleaders are athletes. This belief has fueled her coaching career and now fuels her business. It is the premise upon which all business decisions at Cheer Ltd. Inc. are made.

“We believe in the value of athletics for young people. Sports can often teach life lessons that cannot be learned in the classroom; i.e., that you can work hard enough to win and still lose – that you can finish what you start, despite the obstacles,” says Holtsclaw. “Cheerleading squads face the same challenges as other athletic teams – physical conditioning, teamwork, maximizing strengths and minimizing weaknesses.”

Cheer Ltd., Inc. currently produces over 40 events annually including the prestigious five-star Cheer Ltd. Nationals Cheer and Dance Championships at CANAM, Cheer Ltd. Regional Competitions, Cheer Ltd. Summer Camps, and the National Cheer Conference.

“The relationship between M.J. Soffe and Cheer Ltd. Inc. is long-standing and based on mutual respect between colleagues and corporate neighbors. Cheer Ltd. Inc. is thrilled to take this relationship public in a huge way with the launch of the Soffe Spirit Open Championships Series,” says Holtsclaw. “Soffe is the single most recognizable brand in cheerleading apparel. We are honored to partner with Soffe in this exciting new endeavor.”
